My Prayer For You!

As we make the last push to finalize all the details for VBS, please remember the most important thing we can do is show the love of Jesus to the children and their families.  Here is my prayer for you as we prepare for the start of VBS:

Jesus,

Please watch over every person during VBS and keep them safe from harm.  Above all else, let your love be reflected in everything we do and say.  Let the children and their families see that there is something different about us and our church and that difference is the saving grace of Jesus.  Let us give strength and encouragement to one another and please give us strength when we are too tired to go on.  Bless those who are giving their time and resources to make this VBS a success.  Let us see others through your loving eyes and banish all critical spirits.  Give us patience, endurance and a servant heart.

Amen

Jungle Flowers

One of our teachers came up with the idea for these flowers:

Take cupcake liners and glue a silk flower to the inside of the liner. The liners can be expensive but I've purchased them when they've been marked down by 50% or more.

Here's a close up of the flower.

I found these felt flowers in the kitchen section at the Dollar Tree. They were just mixed in with a bunch of other stuff but I loved them to decorate with and also think they're great to use on a felt wall in the nursery!

Plastic Table Cloth Vines

Here are some pictures to guide you to make vines from a plastic tablecloth:

I unfolded the table cloth one time only and laid it on the paper cutter to slice it into strips.

I unfolded the tablecloth one time only and laid it on the paper cutter to slice it into strips.  It should be a square shape on the cutter.  The strips don’t need to be perfectly cut-imperfections make them look more like vines.

This is what your strip should look like when you're done.

This is what the finished strip should look like after you grab it on each side and pull all the way down the strip. I did a lot of these and it did make my arms sore!

This is what the strips look like when you hang them from the ceiling.

We hung the strips in different spots around the ceiling.
